Arabic Language

"A different language is a different vision of life."
Federico Fellini

Learning two languages provides students with a distinct educational opportunity. It introduces them to different cultures and extends their appreciation of Australia's multicultural society, as well as increasing their future career choices, especially in international domains.

The LOTE department at Holy Saviour School follows the Board of Studies curriculum requirements. Arabic language is taught from Kindergarten to Year 6 for three periods per week. We recognise the different levels of prior knowledge of our students, particularly those who do not come from an Arabic-speaking background. A modified program is provided for students who require higher levels of scaffolding and a support teacher is available to guide students through this program.

Holy Saviour School has provided its teachers and students with innovative technologies such as interactive whiteboards and digital recorders, microphones, headsets and projectors, which are all being used to deliver Arabic lessons. Arabic language is taught through a theme-based approach and lessons incorporate a range of interactive activities, songs, internet resources and a variety of media.

We welcome parental involvement in our LOTE classes and encourage it as an essential element in students' education.
